7 Of The Best Ways To Enjoy Your Cruise

Most of us already know that going on a cruise is the best bang for your buck. So with that said, what are the best ways to enjoy your cruise? There are so many things you can take advantage of when you are on a cruise, whether it be on board or ashore. Some of these things may or may not cost a little extra, but for the most part are very easy on your wallet. All of these different events and adventures may not be for everyone, but there is usually plenty for everyone to enjoy, that’s what makes cruising such an excellent choice as your next vacation.

There are many attributes to finding the best ways to enjoy your cruise, and they can be big things and little things. I am going to share seven things that will help you get the most out of what will hopefully be your best cruise, if not, vacation ever.

  1. Excursions

Every cruise offers special events that you can partake in when in some of your ports. These adventures are usually the picturesque things you tend to see in the brochures and online. The significant part about them is that they typically are reasonably priced.

The adventures range in extravagance from merely snorkeling in specific areas to visiting historical places. These are some of the most exotic and beautiful excursions that people seem to have enjoyed the most.

The Atlantis Submarine

The Atlantis Submarine is one that can be taken anywhere from Maui to Cozumel. It is an underwater adventure in an actual submarine that gives you to must up-close look at the beautiful and exotic sea life. With incredible visuals, it can be one of the most memorable parts of your trip.

Xcaret Cozumel

This excursion will show you all the wonders of Mexico from the secret river trails and snorkeling adventures to seeing some of the historical cultures that Mexico has to offer. With over 50 different attractions to explore there is undoubtedly something for everyone to enjoy.

Glass Bottom Boat Tours

One of the most popular and reasonably priced excursions is the glass bottom boat tours. These tend to be available at most ports. It would be best to do a little research about the marine life in the area you are considering taking the tour at so that you can make sure to see the most that the sea has to offer. If you belong to any cruise facebook groups, ask around about the area you are going to. In these groups, most people can tell you what areas are worth taking the tours. Many of the glass bottom boat tours also offer snorkeling to go along with the boat trip.

Cozumel Mayan Ruins

If you are heading to Cozumel as one of your ports, take a look at touring the Mayan ruins. Anyone with a love of history will without a doubt find this most fascinating. Even those who don’t have a love of history will discover the wonder and the beauty captivating.

2. Accessories

Another way to make sure you get the most out of your trip is with different accessories you can bring with you. If you plan on using your cell phone to take all your pictures, there are ways to get the most out of them. Many folks have found that buying different adaptable lenses can get you the best pictures possible. Lenses are very reasonable and can expand your picture taking possibilities. You can see them here on Amazon.

Another accessory many find useful is a battery charging phone case. If you are planning on having your phone with you off the ship to take those beautiful pictures, they can tend to eat through your phone’s battery quickly, and the last thing you want is to have your phone die before you get all the pictures you want. These are very well priced and can give you up to two full charges per case. You can find them here on Amazon.

3. The Drink Package

One of the most common questions I have come across is people wanting to know if buying the all inclusive drink package is worth the price. The short answer is yes. Whether or not you are a big drinker or not. If you read my last post, you know that I don’t drink at all, but it was useful for buying sodas, special coffees and even energy drinks for when I would get a little sleepy from the boat gently rocking me to sleep in the middle of the day. The price for the privilege to have any drink you want when you want not only puts your mind at ease, it also makes it much more convenient when ordering a drink as opposed to having to worry how much is getting charged to your room key. So it’s worth it not only for the price but, for the ease of having a beverage.

4. Get A Balcony Room

If you are on the fence about spending the extra money for a stateroom with a large window or a balcony, I cannot express enough how much getting the balcony room is worth it. There is nothing like waking up in the morning and stepping outside and watching the open sea pass you by and to sit and enjoy the fresh sea air before beginning your day of fun. It can also be enjoyable if you find yourself needing a break from everything. You can just head back to your room and sit with a coffee or any beverage and let the serenity of the open sea wash over you. So again, spend the extra money, and you won’t be sorry.

5. Take Advantage Of The Sit Down Dinners

These dinners are different from the specialty dinners for which you have to pay extra. These dinners are included with your trip and always put you in a slightly more formal mood without having to dress up like on a formal night. They are excellent dining with great meals you won’t find at the buffet areas. It feels good sometimes to have a waiter or waitress take care of you for a meal. Again these are included in the price of your trip and more than worth it.

6. Enjoy The Entertainment Shows

Every cruise line is known for having plenty of entertainment on board from simple live musicians playing while you enjoy a drink or time at the casino, to live bands all the way to Broadway-style shows. Take advantage of these opportunities and see these shows. They tend to be about an hour long so that they won’t kill half your day. You will be more than entertained with them as well. They even have live shows that kids will enjoy as well. Most cruise ships also offer comedy clubs or shows. These usually come in two different shows, one that is family friendly and one later at night that is just for adults. There are plenty of these shows so you are more than likely to find one or two that will be enjoyable for you.

7. The Deck Party

The deck party is just what it sounds. It is one big party outside on the main deck where everyone can let loose and enjoy themselves. It is a great place to meet new people and to just let yourself go. These parties tend to happen towards the end of the cruise, but they are none the less full of fun, good people, and great music.

These are just a few ways to get the most out of your cruise. One thing to remember is that when you first get to your room, there is always information as far as the onboard entertainment so be sure to look it over and try and plan out a few of the things you are interested in doing. Many cruise lines offer onboard apps for your smartphone that also have an itinerary so you can plan out as well. As far as excursions go these, you will have to plan out before you head out on your trip, so they take some more planning.
